Suresnes American Cemetery and Memorial

Suresnes American Cemetery and Memorial is located just outside of Paris and is a beautiful and moving place to visit. Over 1,500 Americans who served in World War I rest on the green hillside of Mont-Valérien as well as 23 unknown dead from World War II. Just below the cemetery is Fort Mont-Valérien where Nazis occupying Paris executed over 1,000 French resistants during World War II. Both sites are well worth a visit, especially if your visit to Paris doesn’t include time for making it to Normandy and the more well-known sites there. This is a hidden gem for remembering and paying your respects to the memory of those who helped free Europe.
